Home Teaching Introverts

As I read this book I thought about the methods we use to fellowship others — the biggest one being home/visiting teaching. If we have a family or an individual on our list that is more introverted should we be approaching it differently than calling and demanding a time to come and visit in their home? Could the fact that someone wants to come into their home — their “happy place” — their sanctuary — be so over stimulating that they dread the experience? Maybe the introvert that is strongly encouraged to attend the ward party is so uncomfortable that the act of “felloshipping” is just the thing that drives them to inactivity.

One of the big mistakes a leader makes is not meeting one-on-one consistently with those in their auxiliary or presidency. Instead they wait for the big issue to come up.

Ward Council Takes 10 Hours

Do they really need to wake up early, put socks on in the dark, eat breakfast alone, scrap ice off their car windows, drive on ice, sit in a hard chair for an hour simply to find out that the scout camp will now be NEXT Saturday rather than THIS Saturday?

Everyone that is caught in the middle of a flash mob talks about it for a week — maybe longer. They experience something so different it was worth talking about.
